The Divorce Stats Myth

Postby Wren » Sat Dec 06, 2014 2:25 pm

So many people like to say how half of all marriages end in divorce. We've known for awhile that isn't true (and people who get married and divorced multiple times skew the stats), but here's another article to try again to shut down the myth.

I'm glad to see stuff like that. I feel like the argument that 50% of marriages end in divorce a is really only used as a fear tactic by those who dislike or distrust the idea of marriage. And divorce *is* a scary thing. I've seen some bad ones in my day. But it's not a guarantee. If anything it helps people to see what pitfalls to avoid and how.

I was reading a similar article this week. That the 50% stats were mired in data from the 70's and 80's and now it's only like 15%.
