If you want a classic: "Pilgrim's Progress" easy to read even for today's standards, and the metaphors are more obvious than what you find in a CS Lewis novel, but they're supposed to be.
"And how the Lord has a little left me, how weak do I find myself! O, let it teach me to depend less on myself, to be more humble, and to give more of the praise of my ability to Jesus Christ." Jonathan Edwards (from his journal)

Thank you everyone. I am going to look them all up on Kindle and put them on my wish-list to keep track.

Scrolling back and resurrecting dead threads. 'Cause I'm new.

According to Plan by Graeme Goldsworthy is a good introduction to Biblical Theology (ie. looking at the bible narrative as a whole, beginning with God creating the world through the fall, his promises to us, redemption and so on) as opposed to Systematic Theology (what the bible says on a particular issue or doctrine).
When I say opposed I don't wish to imply that they are in opposition, they aren't.

I pity you, you of the mean intellects. You need to hold on so tight to your cherished opinions because to do otherwise would be to grow, and change is scary, and what is scary must be avoided.

Just started reading this. Francis Chan always brings it.

Can I borrow that when you're done? :D

I borrowed it on the Kindle library. :|

Kindle has a library? How did I not know about this? I must investigate.

A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis is, as is typical of Lewis, exceptional.

Non-fiction: Doctrine by Mark Driscoll and Gerry Brasheres. I have quite literally been reading it since this past summer, highlighting through it and taking notes on it. Incredible book that has helped me, a life-long believer forever growing in the faith, understand more about the "whats" and "whys" of the Church.

Fiction: The Trial by Robert Whitlow. I promise you that you will NOT be able to put it down.

I have "Doctrine" sitting on my bookshelf! I haven't read it yet, but I have read Death by Love and Vintage Jesus - both I highly recommend. So I can imagine that Doctrine is also an excellent read.

Of course there's the obligatory, "The Singer Trilogy" or any other fiction work by Calviin Miller..

I also just finished reading a book called, "Ordering Your Private World" by Gordon MacDonald. Though it may be considered a "self help" book by some, I found it to be really insightful. In it, he highlights important disciplines such as journaling. (which is a pretty rewarding experience in and of itself)

I've had this book come up and it keeps coming to mind:

I wonder if I should read it. I need to get back into the habit.
